The Supreme Court has ruled that lawsuits by victims’ families and survivors of the September 11 attacks can move forward, however relatives of Osama bin Laden and Saudi businesses suspected of supporting the attacks will not be included. The high court decided not to review a previous ruling that dismissed lawsuits against 25 defendants connected to Al-Qaeda. including charities, banks, front organizations and financiers. In 2005 Judicial Watch revealed FBI documents detailing how wealthy Saudi citizens, including relatives of Osama bin Laden, flew out of the United States in the days following September 11, 2001 at a time when most flights were grounded.
