September Recap, October Events!

Hello Friends!

Things have been busy in the world of the Houston Free Thinkers.

In early September there was a focus on the War in Syria. #HFT member Cody Adams was on a number of local news media platforms speaking out against the war and declaring that the United States government has used shoddy evidence in the past to convince the public to go to war, and we shouldn’t let it happen again. Thanks to everyone who came and stood with us on this important topic.

On September 11th of this year we had HFT members on the streets in Houston, and New York City asking the important questions that continue to surround the events of September 11, 2001. We joined up with the ReThink911 campaign to ask, “Did you know 3 buildings fell on 9/11?”.

Also, HFT member Derrick Broze returned from a stint with the Adam Vs. The Man crew, sitting in for Adam Kokesh while he fights of the Federal Government. Welcome back!

Work in the garden continued throughout the month! It’s time for fall planting so come out and get involved! The HFT Garden is at the Last Organic Outpost at 711 Emile Street. HFT members are at the garden every Sunday at 9 a.m.

We also returned to the Federal Reserve for street action on September 23rd! Thanks to those who made it! The groups first actions were at the Fed and it felt good to be back on the streets. Join us as we return to the Fed twice a month. The next event is at 4 p.m. on October 7th.

HFT also partnered up with Peaceful Streets Project Houston for some cop watching action. This means we walked through cop heavy parts of town, filming our interactions with officers, never interfering but making efforts to bring accountability to the police and safety to our communities. Look for more of these actions in October.

The next HFT monthly meeting is Thursday October 10th at 7:30 p.m. at The Free Thinker House (2620 Truxillo). Please come out and get involved with us! We love to meet new people and only by growing our efforts in the community will we truly be effective at achieving change!
