This Fourth of July activists are taking to the streets and to the internet to protest the domestic spying programs that were recently revealed by whistle blower Edward Snowden. Internet companies Reddit, Mozilla, 4chan, WordPress and other websites will display anti-NSA spying messages on their home pages. A coalition of online activists known as the Internet Defense League are organizing the anti-NSA surveillance campaign similar to the online protests against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). The online protests will coincide with national protests across the country being organized by the group Restore the Fourth. The group aims to end all forms of unconstitutional surveillance of digital communications by the United States government.
