On Monday the Marine Corps recruiting website was hacked and redirected temporarily. The website was redirected with a message from the Syrian Electronic Army, which has claimed responsibility for hacking the New York Times among other media sites. The message was a plea for Americans to fight alongside the Syrian Army and President Bashar Assad rather than supporting and aiding the rebels in the Syrian civil war. A Marine Corps spokesman stated that no information was compromised by the attack.
