The Langley School District in Metro Vancouver, Canada has banned students at Coghlan Kindergarten from all hands on play. Last Friday parents received a letter from school administration warning them that their children would be punished with a visit to the principal’s office if they play tag, hold hands or have imaginary fights with schoolmates. The temporary ban only affects kindergarten students and is supposed to eliminate concerns from parents about “rough play” at the playground.
