A California bill that is aimed at protecting confidential information for internet users has been sent to Governor Jerry Brown. Senate Bill 46 would require businesses that run internet sites to provide notice to customers regarding breaches of passwords, user names or security questions and answers. Current law only covers social security, driver’s license, credit card numbers, and medical records The measure is an attempt to stymie online theft and improve cyber-security.
