Brazil Prepares for World Cup as Police Strike, Protests Grow

As Brazil is preparing for the launch of the World Cup tournament, the nation finds itself gripped in strikes and protests. On Wednesday the 22nd of May police officers in several states of Brazil staged a 24-hour strike just 2 weeks before the tournament. The officers are calling on higher wages and better working conditions. On Monday hundreds of protesters surrounded a bus carrying Brazil’s players.
