Apple Claims Ignorance Regarding NSA Backdoors on iPhone

Apple has stated they “never worked with the NSA to create a backdoor in any of our products” after a leaked 2008 slide showed the NSA has a tool capable of logging data from iPhone microphones, cameras, text messages, and more. The program, known as DROPOUTJEEP, originally was installed physically through interception of electronic devices before they are delivered, but the documents also reveal the ability to remotely install the program. Despite Apple’s claims of ignorance, some security experts believe the NSA’s program would not work as well without cooperation from Apple and other tech companies.
